Lindfield Learning Village Wins Award

Lindfield Learning Village Wins Award

Innovative education requires innovative spaces and one of the jewels of the Australian construction industry’s excellence in creating world class education facilities, Lindfield Learning Village is nearing its Stage 2 completion. As part of the School Infrastructure Project of the NSW Government, the University of Technology Sydney Ku-ring Gai campus had been transformed into a co-education facility with an elegant design that combined highly complex heritage, safety, bushfire and educational considerations.

The project has reused a highly significant Sulman award-winning Brutalist building (previously the UTS Ku-ring-gai campus) to create a K-12 Department of Education campus.

erbas has been involved in this project since its inception. For over five years a dedicated team of engineers has been assisting to ensure that everything imagined has been engineered to the highest of industry standards. erbas were engaged for end-to-end sustainability and all services and infrastructure, inclusive of services master planning.

The team, led by one of our directors, Michael Slatter, was formed of Mark Albertella - Mechanical, Joshua Walding - Hydraulic, John Vergara - Fire, Anton Smolin – Electrical and Annie Sim - Sustainability. A challenging and exciting project to be involved with, at one time completing over 660 technical drawings within seven weeks to keep the project programme on track.

The first stage, completed in 2019, was in partnership with Taylor Construction who have been awarded a High Commendation in the Adaptive Re-Use and Sustainability categories in the 2021 NSW AIB Professional Excellence Awards.

The second stage is due to be completed this year, and we look forward to celebrating this significant project completion with Hindmarsh Construction and NBRS Architecture.
