Clients can get real dollar value for smarts and genuine points of difference

On a recent residential aged care project, the completed site had 300 kVA of available electrical capacity, against an initial estimated maximum demand of approximately 700 kVA. The client was consequently facing the prospect of hiring a temporary generator from day one of operations, an expensive and disruptive outcome.

Rather than accepting this as inevitable, erbas™ stepped back to consider the operational model as a whole. Could the commercial kitchen and laundry be operated off site during the early period? Would occupancy be progressively staged? The answer was yes: one residential wing would open each month from practical completion.

Using detailed energy and thermal simulation modelling, we developed 12-month electrical load profiles for the proposed operating scenarios. The modelling demonstrated that the facility could operate without a generator while kitchen and laundry functions remained off site. It also identified the specific point at which operational staging could proceed without exceeding the available site capacity.

The result was a practical, evidence-based opening strategy that avoided temporary generation, reduced cost and risk, and allowed the client to transition into full operations with confidence.

  • Provide simulated proof that the facility can strategical stage their operational decant from a specific month and have no operational overload - generator avoided.
