As part of structural rectification scope carried out at Werribee Plaza Shopping Centre, a comprehensive program of works was undertaken to modify, reconfigure, and reinstate the existing building services to suit the updated design and ensure uninterrupted functionality across all operational areas.

The project commenced with a thorough inspection and documentation of existing services including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire protection, and communications systems. This early assessment phase was critical in identifying service routes impacted by new structural elements such as beams, columns, risers, and modified tenancy footprints.

In areas where new structural members directly conflicted with existing service infrastructure, systems were carefully isolated and made safe prior to removal. Services such as ductwork, cable trays, pipework, and sprinkler lines were dismantled or relocated, with temporary supports and protective measures installed to prevent damage to live systems and minimise disruption to adjoining tenancies.

Once structural elements were in place, a coordinated effort was made to redesign service routes and reintegrate them into the new building configuration. This involved re-routing of mechanical ductwork and pipework, relocation of electrical conduits and distribution boards, modification of sprinkler and hydrant lines, and adjustments to data and communications cabling. The updated layouts were developed in close collaboration with structural engineers and the design team to ensure compliance with building codes, maintain spatial efficiency, and uphold accessibility for future maintenance. In many instances, new supports, ceiling fixings, and wall penetrations were introduced to allow for the repositioning of services in line with the new architectural arrangements. Existing plant and equipment, such as air handling units, switchboards, pumps, and control panels, were retained where possible and reconnected to the modified infrastructure.

Upon completion of service modifications, all systems were thoroughly tested and commissioned. This included verifying electrical continuity, pressure testing hydraulic systems, balancing HVAC systems, testing fire detection and suppression equipment, and confirming the integration of control systems such as the Building Management System (BMS).

All works were carried out in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and local authority requirements, with detailed as-built documentation and certification provided at handover. The successful reinstatement of building services ensured that the Werribee Plaza Shopping Centre could resume normal operations with upgraded infrastructure that supports the new structural and spatial arrangements.
