The redevelopment supports the Castlemaine State Festival’s vision of a year-round creative and cultural hub, providing a home for festival events, administrative functions, and a wide range of community and artistic programs.
erbas™ | erbas™ SUSTAIN delivered the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic services design, enabling the adaptive reuse of the historic building. Our work ensured the facility is safe, fully functional, and flexible, supporting performance and exhibition spaces, back-of-house amenities, green rooms, a tech deck, and other specialised areas designed to meet the needs of both performers and audiences.
The project carefully preserved key heritage elements, including timber flooring and brickwork, while introducing modern enhancements such as operable walls, AV infrastructure, compliant balustrades, and upgraded roof systems. These upgrades enable the Goods Shed to host a diverse array of arts and cultural events, from visual and performance arts to music, literature, and community programs
