Glen Innes Agricultural Research and Advisory Station

In the central highlands of NSW, an area known for its extreme temperature variances, the new greenhouses at the Glen Innes Agricultural Research and Advisory Station need to be climatically controlled to facilitate ground-breaking experiments.

CWL Group

Value

$2 million

The Station is an agricultural, research and community hub, helping farmers stay ahead in the global agricultural industry.

The unique challenges, due to the wide temperature range combined with the limited thermal insulation of the greenhouse panels and critical indoor condition requirements, necessitated some creative solutions to limit capital and running costs without compromising on performance.

Working with our partners we were responsible for the design of building services for four greenhouse modules with an annex building.

A geothermal heat pump system was adopted to take advantage of the relatively stable ground temperatures throughout the year. The heat pump was coupled with evaporative coolers and smart controls for blinds, misters and natural vents in order to cater for all climatic scenarios.
