Class 2 Registered and Fire Systems Certified

Class 2 Registered and Fire Systems Certified

Did you know that we are qualified as Class 2 registered services certifiers? These requirements were recently mandated by the NSW Government for the residential building sector in response to a drop in consumer confidence resulting from some poor design and build outcomes. The reforms look to reshape the process and increase accountability across the spectrum of the construction process.

Registration is not simply attained by administrative application only, this is a process where integrity, ability and experience are weighed. We are proud to say erbas™ is registered across all offered disciplines for Class 2 residential design.

Our hope is that this reform and the inclusion of higher calibre design groups will assist to lift and restore the view of residential apartment design and build to a time of high consumer confidence with the right balance of quality and safety which it has known in times past.

Did you also know that we are qualified as Fire Systems certifiers? These requirements were mandated by the NSW Government last year in response to public pressure on the industry to tidy up the certifying scheme for fire safety systems in all classes of buildings.

Traditionally certification was a role held solely for Private Certifiers, issues became apparent in the past scheme of certification where certificates or statements could be issued to Certifiers from designers with little accountability.

After some recent safety events were reported within the media, this highlighted some deficiencies in the scheme and forced mandated changes to increase the quality and provide a framework for designers to have to prove their sufficiency to practice as fire systems designers.

In similar ways to the recent Class 2 changes, registration is not simply attained by administrative application only, this is a process where integrity, ability and experience are weighed. It requires a deep knowledge of the design principles applied and an exemplary knowledge of the regulated process. We are proud to say erbas™ is registered across all offered disciplines with relevant certification being held with the Building Professionals Board and the Fire Protection Association of Australia (FPAA) alike.

We see first-hand the changes these reforms have on the industry and we are wholly supportive. Our hope is that this reform and the inclusion of higher calibre design groups will assist to lift and restore the view of the design and build sectors long into the future.
